Bruce C. Sdunek is an American fine art photographer and printer with over 70 years experience. My work has been exhibited in galleries around the United States. I learned my craft, first from my Father, and then by viewing the work of others in museums and galleries, and through trial and error in the field and my darkroom. I have also read extensively on the success of other photographers and their processes. I received my first camera at age eight from my Grandfather. I immediately, under my Fathers guidance, began processing and printing my photos.
I do all my own black & white processing, preferring film to digital. I find it important to have my hands be involved in the printing process. I print on conventional silver gelatin papers as well as hand coating papers using various processes. I believe that tripping the shutter is only the first step in the creation of a finely crafted print. At each phase of the process new opportunities for discovery and expression arise.
Color may be from film or digital cameras, although I prefer film. Just enough processing is done in Photoshop to achieve my vision. Prints are on fine quality papers using archival inks.
Handmade prints ordered from me are mounted and framed using acid-free materials. Generally these prints are 11 X 14 or smaller, although larger prints can be ordered.
